So all told, we spent $81.00 (not including gatorade) for a 12 minute movie and a 90 second kiddy ride. Don't expect any deals there either - All the kits were priced more than you would find in the lego stores in the mall and far more than you can find online. We stopped to get a drink for the kids on the way out and be prepared if you think you're going to buy food for your kids there: $15 dollars for a small meal box! another 20 minute wait to pay for our drink and then we finally headed out through the store. After 10 minutes in there, we grabbed our kids and stood in line for another 20 minutes to see the 12 minute 4D lego movie, which was a pretty nice experience. The Lego attendants blithely ignored these situations. I saw many a small child bowled over and left to cry on the ground until a concerned parent found them. This was a bit of a disaster as there were so many older kids allowed in, the smaller children were banged around and knocked over. Went on the Harry Potter ride and as the kids couldn't get anywhere near the creation stations to build anything, straight to the climbing jungle Gym area. we then walked around the Boston City lego display for a few minutes. After finally making it into the attraction itself, were told the main ride (1 of 2 in the center) wasn't working and check back in a few hours. When we returned we had to wait 25 minutes in line to get to the ticket counter, and then they herded us into an elevator ante chamber for another 10 minute wait. With our tickets purchased we had an hour to kill at the half built mall, so we decided to grab en early lunch at the only restaurant open nearby (which required crossing 2 busy streets and a 20 minute walk with our kids). Not a huge problem as I used my smartphone to buy tickets online, but it seemed a silly extra step to have to take in order to get in. We were informed upon arrival that only Annual Pass members and online tickets would be guaranteed entry on the day we arrived. First, Don't think you can just walk up and buy tickets. I understand it's a relatively new property, and they are still working out some kinks, but our experience was not a pleasant one. On a visit to Boston with our 4 & 6 year old children we decided to visit the new Legoland at Assembly Row outside of Boston. For a Lego loving kid, it's an afternoon well spent. We will probably go back next year with our youngest son. There is no way to just go around the store. So, you'll want to be prepared to shop - or have an excuse ready ahead of time. I'm sure there were a lot of disappointed kids, frustrated parents, or both as a result. Thankfully we were already prepared to make a purchase as we were there to celebrate our sons' birthdays, but there were many people who did not know that a visit to the store was mandatory. 6 - Know before you enter the building that you MUST exit through the store. My advice would be to plan your main meal before or after your visit and use the Cafe as a snack option. 5 - Yes, the cafe was over-priced for a kids meal deal. Thankfully, once we got through the initial entry, and mini-figure "building" room (which the kids could not WAIT to get out of - it was over-stimulating) the rest of the visit was self-paced and enjoyable. This was very off-putting and everyone in the group seemed to have the fear that this was going to be the theme throughout. 4 - There was a lot of waiting upon entry. The kids and grown ups alike were thrilled. So, you have been warned: B.Y.O.S.!! 3 - The 4D movies were the hit of the day. They could all enter the exhibit if their parents purchased socks at the Cafe for $1/pair. Seeing how we went on a 90 degree day, about 85% of the kids there were in flip-flops or sandals. There is a large and fairly unavoidable playscape that requires socks for entry. I think my younger son (5) would not have appreciated a lot of what was offered here and I think anyone too far over the age of, say, 11 would be bored. A few details: 1 - My kids were the perfect age. It was about my seven year old sons and they loved it. As an adult, this place didn't do too much for me.
